What is Regen Funding Support?
Regen Funding Support (RFS) is an open-source initiative that helps regenerative projects find and access funding more effectively.
Grassroots initiatives often struggle to secure resources because the funding landscape is fragmented, rapidly changing, and poorly adapted to local realities. RFS tackles this challenge by enabling local and bioregional hubs to build their own funding intelligence:
- gathering and organizing opportunities,
- matching them to project needs, and
- sharing knowledge across a wider network.
The system blends human-centered design with AI-assisted support, automating repetitive research while keeping communities in control of their own knowledge. This frees small teams to focus on what matters most: regeneration, collaboration, and care for their territories.
We are currently piloting RFS in Catalonia, where we work closely with partners such as Miceli Social (rural resilience and municipal collaboration) and La Fundició / Keras Buti (urban cooperative economics and cultural innovation). Through Regenerative Funding Meetups and local partnerships, we are co-creating and testing the first tools in real conditions.
RFS is stewarded by ReFi Barcelona, a worker cooperative which to be incorporated in January 2026 in Barcelona, now pre-federated with Federació de Cooperatives de Treball de Catalunya**, and led by Giulio Quarta, community organizer and alternative economics strategist. Our aim is to deliver a replicable, community-owned toolkit that any local hub can use to strengthen access to resources and build resilient funding ecosystems for ecological and social regeneration.
